Fleastival Market goes MAL-MART

Previously on this very same paper you may remember reading about the Fleastival Market. Well, scratch that- here’s the latest update: Fleastival closed down its doors on July 30 2009 consequently leaving many frustrated (and furious) vendors stranded!

All revved up with no place to go, Frank assembled a team of vendors together and leased the space next door to Fleastival. Ironic but logical since this team of vendors had already built a regular customer base in their 2-year span at Fleastival, thus opening up shop in the same area was their best option.

You may recall reading about several of these vendors who had received write-ups in a few local newspapers relating to their rare and unique products, two such vendors being Linda’s pet shop  (Pet’s Paradise) where you may find rare breeds of puppy dogs, tropical fish and birds and the other being “Listen and watch” store which not only carries an amazing selection of CDs and DVD-Concerts but also hard-to-find Vinyl LP titles!

The month-end of July 2009 was certainly a desperate time for these vendors that took two hectic (and quite stressful) weeks between arranging the lease and construction of the booths to get this space ready for the vendors so that they could move into their new abode by the beginning of August.

Frank’s team of vendors were indeed fortunate enough to obtain Tony (who was the maintenance man for Fleastival) to do the construction of the booths and I believe that credit also goes to the Azuria Group (Rachel, Mario and Edith) for their kind donation of the slot walls, posts and tarp used in the construction of the booths as well as providing a storage space for all of the vendors’ inventory.
This rental space of 3500 square feet that now houses the group of vendors utilizes the same entrance doors as ‘No Frills’ in the Honeydale Mall and is aptly named MAL-MART (and that I might add leaves little to the imagination for shoppers).
Here’s a list of the new but old vendors you will no doubt come across when you visit them at their brand new and exciting location at Honeydale Mall, 5555 Dundas St West, just east of 427, which opens officially on Saturday Aug 8th 2009.

You will be glad to note the new and improved hours of the MAL-MART complex: Tues & Wed: 10-6pm, Thurs & Fri: 10-8pm, Sat & Sun: 10-6pm
